Rescue a Rottweiler in the country or a Poodle in the city? Buy vaccines or food? Hiring an experienced veterinarian or negotiate at the Dogs Fair?
In “Dogs” these are some decisions you must make as administrator of your own kennel.
Throughout the game, you must manage your resources wisely without losing sight of the different breeds of dogs looking for a shelter. Also, expanding your kennel will be essential to increase your pack and score more points at the end.
Some dogs require medical attention, some are ready to be adopted right away. Some breeds are more in demand than others and can fetch a nice reward for the shelters that find them. You must balance the cost of running your shelter (food, medicine, kennels and staff) against the gathering of so many cute dogs. Can you help all your dogs find great homes?
In Dogs, each player owns a kennel and wants to turn it into the largest and most comfortable shelter for city and country dogs. Each game round is divided into three phases:
In Phase 1 players move their vehicles (trucks) through two different scenarios of the board: Field and City. Players collecting stray and abandoned dogs of various breeds who need medical care and food will be well rewarded, yielding valuable points at the end of the game.
In Phase 2 players select special cards and perform important actions in five places: the City, the Warehouse, the Pet Shop, Veterinary Clinic and Trade Show Dogs. The number of players who can use each location in the round is limited, therefore, choosing the right action is essential to bring good results for the kennel player. In addition, there are four types of resources in the game (money, gasoline, ration and medicines) and it is essential to keep them under control – avoiding penalties disorders.
In Phase 3 players feed the dogs in their stalls, pay the salaries of assistants and kennel, and organize the board for the next round.
Upon completion of a certain number of rounds, the kennel with the highest score wins the game!
